Q&A
What part of your work gives you the most satisfaction?
I love it when clients bring us opportunities, even problems, and allow us to serve as a resource to examine the matter and advise. I like understanding the goals and desires of the client and then developing a structure that can deliver those goals.
What do you hope clients remember after working with you?
I want clients to take away from each meeting that their goals are my goals. When they feel that I am wanting their success, it helps open the door to better communication. More communication leads to better teamwork.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I would like to say that “traveling with my family” is the thing I love to do the most, but if I am honest, traveling with my family and my bike is what I love the most. Whenever we travel, I look wistfully at the roads and think of how much I wish I could be cycling them. My wonderful wife and daughters begrudgingly put up with my cycling nonsense.
What is your favorite travel destination?
I have places I have loved visiting and places I have visited where I wish I could live. Prague and Belgium are places I loved visiting, but Vermont, Los Angeles, Seattle, the Alsace region of France and Germany’s Black Forest are places where I could easily imagine building a life. I would also be remiss if I didn’t mention that I got the opportunity to live in Boston during law school, and I would happily live there again. Santarpio’s Pizza every Friday night just sounds so good.
What was your first job?
My first job was as a bus boy/barback at Michael Jordan’s restaurant during college.
If you weren’t in your current profession, what would you be doing?
If I had a few acres and some vines planted, growing grapes and making wine on a nice parcel of land would be divine.
