Q&A

What part of your work gives you the most satisfaction?

In the initial stages of working together, most clients relate to their adviser based on the adviser’s knowledge and professional qualifications. However, in my most meaningful client relationships, there comes a point where an internal, emotional shift happens – and a client begins to feel a much deeper connection and trust, almost like family. Those types of client relationships provide the deepest satisfaction.

I also get a great deal of satisfaction from helping clients create greater wealth, because it empowers them with greater financial freedom. In turn, that freedom enables my clients to pursue their goals with confidence while creating opportunities for the people and communities they care about most.

What do you hope clients remember after working with you?

My hope is for each of my clients to fully trust me as a genuine, honest adviser who is deeply committed to working hard to help them build the kind of financial security that can empower them to reach their life goals. My ultimate professional goal is for each of my clients to feel that working with me, and our firm, has truly changed their life for the better.

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or historical, who would it be?

My faith has always been such a guiding force in all I do, both personally and professionally. So if I could enjoy a meal with any person from history, it would be Jesus Christ. It’s so humbling to me to know that a person who lived more than 2,000 years ago can still inspire me, and billions of others, to strive to be the very best we can be, by living a life centered on love, mercy and forgiveness for all people.

What’s something about you that might surprise current or prospective clients?

Although I’ve spent nearly three decades building a career as a financial adviser, many people are surprised to learn that in 2018 I became the pastor of a small but growing church in Pickerington, Ohio, where my wife, Selloane, and I raised our two sons.

My journey has been shaped by gratitude and faith. I survived after being born extremely prematurely, after my mother endured years of fertility challenges. I was then blessed with opportunities I never could have imagined, including living on three continents and building a successful career in financial services. As a Black man in a profession where representation remains limited, I am especially grateful for the privilege of serving extraordinary individuals and families, including executives and senior leaders across Ohio.

Through every chapter of my life, faith has been the constant. That gratitude inspired me to lead a church and encourage others in their spiritual journeys. While financial advising and pastoral ministry may seem like very different callings, both are rooted in the same purpose: helping people navigate important life decisions and build meaningful futures.

What is your favorite travel destination?

I have always had a deep appreciation for wildlife, which is why Kruger National Park in South Africa is my favorite travel destination. There is something truly remarkable about seeing lions, cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, and other native species roaming freely in their natural habitat. The opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of African wildlife up close makes Kruger a destination unlike any other and one that holds a special place in my heart.

What’s a fun or interesting fact about you?

Over the course of my life, I’ve lived on three continents, spending much of my childhood in Ghana. Experiencing such a diverse range of cultures and communities has given me a deep respect for different perspectives, traditions, and ways of life.

What is something on your bucket list?

One item high on my bucket list is visiting my birthplace, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Although I was born there while my father was serving as a diplomat for the Republic of Ghana, I was too young to remember the experience and would love the opportunity to explore the city as an adult. Another goal is to learn how to play the guitar. My wife and I raised our two sons in the United States, and like many children here, they learned to play musical instruments, specifically the saxophone and clarinet. Growing up in Ghana, that was not a common experience, so watching them develop those skills sparked my own interest in learning an instrument. Picking up the guitar is something I would love to challenge myself to do someday.
